“Faith has to work twenty-four hours a day in and through us, or we perish.”

“Faith has to work twenty-four hours a day in and through us, or we perish.” Alcoholics Anonymous (1939) · Chapter 1 · Bill's Story
Where it comes from

From the closing pages of “Bill’s Story,” the first chapter of the 1939 book.

Today’s reflection

Faith here isn’t a Sunday thing or a crisis hotline — it’s described as a working shift that never ends. That sounds demanding until you flip it: something is on duty around the clock so you don’t have to be. The day still has to be lived an hour at a time, but it doesn’t have to be lived alone at any of them. What would the next hour look like if you actually believed backup was on shift?

Frequently asked questions

Nevada Recovery: Common Questions

How long does detox take in Nevada?
Medical detox typically lasts 3-10 days depending on the substance. Alcohol detox is usually 5-7 days, opioid detox 5-10 days, and benzodiazepine detox can take 2-8 weeks. Nevada detox centers provide 24/7 medical supervision throughout the process.
Is medical detox dangerous?
Withdrawal from certain substances (alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids) can be medically dangerous without supervision. Nevada medical detox centers provide medications to manage withdrawal symptoms safely, monitoring vital signs, and preventing complications.
What happens after detox in Nevada?
After completing detox, patients typically transition to inpatient or outpatient treatment for ongoing therapy and support. Many Nevada facilities offer seamless transitions to their treatment programs. Following up detox with continued care significantly reduces relapse risk.
What can I bring to a detox center?
Most detox centers allow comfortable clothing, basic toiletries, prescription medications (in original containers), identification, and insurance cards. Facilities typically restrict electronics, outside food, weapons, and any substances. Call your chosen Nevada facility for specific guidelines.
How do I find the right recovery program in Nevada?
Consider the type of treatment needed (detox, inpatient, outpatient, sober living), insurance coverage, location preferences, and specialized programs. Browse directory listings in Nevada and call providers to confirm current availability, services, and payment options.
Do facilities in Nevada accept insurance?
Many treatment centers and detox facilities in Nevada accept major insurance plans including Medicaid, Medicare, Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare. Sober living homes typically require private pay but some partner with treatment centers for covered clinical components.
